The Old Barn Door

The barn door project seemed very obvious to me. I just had to convince the ones around me to save the door! 

The old pine barn that once stood and housed equipment, hay, and other farm necessities had fallen over.  It would be a big undertaking to get it back upright and back to being functional. I love all doors especially the ones that have been around for generations. As in the case of ‘my’ barn door.

I had taken ownership of it and I had a pretty good idea of what I was going to do with it. My idea was to paint it and place it on my mantle. I decided to make it double sided so that it could be a focal point during the holidays and just a cute saying on the other side. 

I love that I have a piece of history that spans for generations incorporated into my home décor, and if I can save something and repurpose it for another generation then that makes it all the more fun to me. I think my Papa thought it was a pretty special barn too.  I found some pictures of him with his guitar with the barn as his backdrop.
